Dear Editor:

I am supporting Doug Overbey in the Aug. 7 primary for State Senate, and much of my support is blessed on Doug's years of community involvement and public service.

Not only has Representative Overbey served Blount County for 16 years as a County Commissioner and a member of the Tennessee House of Representatives, but he has impacted our community through the various organizations that he has been involved with. He has served as president of Maryville Kiwanis and United Way of Blount County, two organizations that focus on community service and helping those in need. Doug has served as chairman of the Maryville-Alcoa College Community Orchestra and the Johnson Girls Group Home, and is a past board member of the Blount County Chamber of Commerce.

Currently, Doug is serving our community's children by serving on the boards of New Hope-Blount County Children's Advocacy Center and A Secret Safe Place for Newborns of Tennessee, an organization Doug help founded to protect newborn infants.

Doug Overbey has been a servant to our community for 30 years, and that is why I am supporting him to continue that service in the Tennessee State Senate.

Sincerely,

David R. Conner
