Firefighters evacuating residents near fire on School House Gap Road

Firefighters are having trouble getting to a fire at a house off School House Gap Road in Dry Valley, and local resident are being evacuated from the area.
Townsend firefighters have evacuated the fire that started at about 5:15 p.m. at a three-story log home on School House Gap Road in Dry Valley. Firefighters are unable to get to the fire at the house that sits at the top of a mountain.
Blount County Fire Lt. Tim Ogle said Blount County firefighters responded to assist at the fire and said a 500-gallon propane tank is sitting behind the residence. Blount County Fire Chief Doug McClanahan has ordered an evacuation of the area around the house and a reverse 9-1-1 call was sent out to residents within 3/4 of a mile of the house, asking them to leave immediately.
Ogle said Blount County firefighters took a brush truck to the fire and an engine is on standby in Townsend.
