Two Louisville residents were arrested Sunday after being accused of beating a Walland man — who is partially paralyzed from cerebral palsy — with beer bottles, a cane, a plate and a dumbbell.
Jameson Tyler Hunter, 21, and Tabetha Celeste Grover, 18, both of Allendale Drive, Louisville, were arrested by Blount County Sheriff's deputies and charged with aggravated assault and aggravated burglary.
Marian O'Briant, public information officer for the Blount County Sheriff's Office, said deputies responded at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday to the report of an assault. Upon arrival at the Walland residence, they found a man who was conscious, but confused.
"He had a laceration to his head and several large marks/bruises across his back," a sheriff's office report said.
The living room of the residence was "scattered with broken glass, plates and other items."
Deputies also reported that there was blood on the floor, a pillow, couch, washing machine and the walls. The Walland man was taken by Rural/Metro Ambulance Service to Blount Memorial Hospital where he was treated for the laceration, two black eyes, a large knot between his eyes and bruises about his face and head.
According to the report, the Walland man said Grover knocked on his door, he answered, and she said she wanted to pick up some of her belongings. The Walland man told her that the belongings weren't there.
The Walland man reported that Grover returned to her car, and then came back to the door with Hunter.
"The victim advised that at that point, the two subjects began attacking him with beer bottles, cane, a plate (and) a metal curl bar," the report said. "As he tried to defend himself throughout the house -- while in the hallway -- the two grabbed him by the hair of the head and began banging his head into the washing machine."
The Walland man said that after they beat him up, Hunter and Grover left and told him they would "come back" if he called the police.
According the report, the Walland man suffers from cerebral palsy, his right arm is paralyzed and he has "very little use of his right side."
Hunter and Grover were located later at their residence on Allendale Drive in Louisville and were brought to the Blount County Justice Center for questioning.
Deputies reported that Hunter and Grover "admitted to beating up" the Walland man, but they said that the man hit Grover first. They claimed that they were just defending themselves, O'Briant said.
Hunter and Grover were both being held in lieu of bonds totaling $17,500 pending a 9 a.m. Friday hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court.
