CBS delays decision on UT-Alabama
CBS has elected to use its six-day option to postpone a decision on whether it will televise UT’s Oct. 25 home game against second-ranked Alabama, the Southeastern Conference announced Monday.
The network will decide between the UT-Alabama and LSU-Georgia games for its 3:30 p.m. time slot, with the remaining game being televised by ESPN at 7:45 p.m.
Final decisions will be reached either late Saturday night or Sunday, the conference said.
Alcoa drops regular-season finale
The Alcoa High School volleyball team dropped its regular-season finale Monday night, suffering a 25-21, 25-22, 25-13 non-region loss at Catholic. Tiffany Watkins had 10 kills and two blocks for the Lady Tornadoes (20-19), while Emily Williams finished with 12 points, two aces and 11 digs.
Third-seeded Alcoa will open the District 3-A/AA Tournament on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. against Carter.
Scots rout Wesleyan College
The Maryville College women’s soccer team remained unbeaten in Great South Athletic Conference play with an 11-0 shutout of Wesleyan College on Sunday in Macon, Ga. Sophomore Jessica Petersen had a hat trick, scoring all three of her goals in the first half as the Scots took a 6-0 lead into the intermission. Brynn Dailey, Alex Wingo and Jill Deluca had two goals each, and Britney Vann had four assists for MC (11-1-1, 9-0 GSAC).
The Scots return to action Thursday at 6 p.m. with a home game against Birmingham Southern College.
