Former Heritage High athletic director Terri Bradshaw was honored at halftime of the boys basketball game on Tuesday night. Bradshaw received the A.F. Bridges Athletic Director of the Year award for 2007-08.¬
The A.F. Bridges Awards program for sportsmanship was recently expanded to include awards for school administrators and coaches. Recognition is made in each of the nine athletic districts in the state.
Nominations are made by a citizenship/sportsmanship committee in each athletic district and final selections were made by a State Selection Committee.
Bradshaw is currently on the staff at Carpenters Middle School.
"I certainly miss Heritage. Just coming into the building was emotional. I was here for 29 years," Bradshaw said. "But I'm enjoying what I'm doing now at Carpenters. I'm the literacy coach there and working with great people."
Bradshaw had to step down at Heritage after the school board amended the job description to make the athletic director an assistant principal.
