When we wrote about alt-country band Blue Mountain a year ago, founder Cary Hudson got nostalgic on us about his band's place in the rise of Americana. "Looking back on it, that was a classic, great scene," he said. "Most of the bands knew each other, even though we were spread out across the country. We got to know the Bottle Rockets, Uncle Tupelo, the Jayhawks, and we played with a lot of them. In retrospect, it was a great scene and a great moment in music. Looking back on it, I'm grateful to have played a part in it -- and I feel fortunate that we can still get together, that we're still alive, and that we can still play together. A lot of those bands that came up with us aren't in the same boat, so we're pretty lucky." After parting ways in 2001, the group -- (from left) Laurie Stirratt, Hudson and Frank Couch -- got back together in 2007, released "Midnight in Mississippi" last summer and will be at Barley's Taproom, 200 E. Jackson Ave. in Knoxville's Old City, at 10 tonight. Cover is $5.
