Rescue teams will resume the search for 22-year-old Gary S. Lindsey of Maryville this morning on Tellico Lake.
Emergency service agencies staged at the junction of the lake and the Little Tennessee River in Monroe County off U.S. 411 South. They began wrapping up operations on Thursday at about 6 p.m. for a break.
Marian O'Briant, Blount County Sheriff's Office public information officer, said the work would begin again about 7:30 a.m. Rescuers worked all night Wednesday.
Lindsey's boat was found on Tellico Lake at about 7 p.m. Wednesday. He was scouting the area for an upcoming fish tournament, authorities said. O'Briant said about 14 agencies came to help search for the man, including the Blount Special Operations Response Team (BSORT).
Authorities have searched the lake using sonar technology and divers. Late afternoon Thursday, a Knox County Sheriff's Office helicopter could be seen flying above the lake, surveying the land and water below.
More emergency service agencies are expected to come to Monroe County to assist in the search, said Blount County Fire Department Chief Doug McClanahan. "We just hope he gets found quickly," said McClanahan. "This is really tough on the family."
