CHATTANOOGA — The Chattanooga Times Free Press has laid off 15 people in newsroom cuts that editor and publisher Tom Griscom attributes to the economic slump.

In a published letter in Wednesday editions, Griscom said the cost reduction decisions announced Tuesday to employees help "address shortfalls in revenues while at the same time minimizing the impact on the news product provided to you."

The newspaper is owned by Little Rock, Ark.-based WEHCO Media, Inc., a privately held media company with holdings that include newspapers, cable television systems, and Internet service
