Smoky Mtn. Critter Fest will be held Sunday
The third annual Smoky Mountain Critter Fest will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Pearson Springs Park in Maryville. There will be activities for kids, food, silly pet contests, rescue groups, music and the Animalympics.

Lavender Festival comes to Oak Ridge
The 11th annual Lavender Festival will be held in Historic Jackson Square in Oak Ridge from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 20. The eco-friendly herb fair will feature the booths of dozens of vendors offering herbal plants and products, jewelry, aromatherapy, gardening and arts and crafts items. Demonstrations will be presented on herbal cooking and crafts, along with educational programs. Live music throughout the day will include contemporary folk, traditional and bluegrass music.

Players to present 'Same Time' June 4-7
The Foothills Community Players will present their fourth and final production of its inaugural season with "Same Time, Next Year," by Bernard Slade, June 4-7. The play will be performed at the Maryville College Alumni Gym.
Opening night, the curtain is scheduled for 8 p.m. with subsequent performances at 8 p.m. June 5, 2 and 8 p.m. June 6 and at 2 p.m. June 7. Tickets are $16, with seniors and students admitted for $14.

Popes focuses on container gardening

Painting class being offered
A Still Life Oil Painting Class will be offered from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays beginning June 30. Students will learn proper canvas preparation, color mixing, lighting and use of painting mediums and glazes to complete a realistic still life using the traditional techniques of the old masters.
