Summer Reading 2009 at Townsend Library

The Mary E. Tippitt Memorial Library in Townsend will be offering its Summer Reading Program, "Be Creative @ Your Library," in July.
The dates and programs are: July 9 -- "Mr. David" the Bug Man; July 16 ¬-- Talent Show, for kids and volunteers to perform; July 23 -- special guest Ronald McDonald; July 30 -- picnic and awards at Townsend City Park. Children ages 3 to 11 are welcome. All programs are from 1 to 3 p.m. Parents can stop in to the library at any time to pre-register their children.
Several new books have been added to the library's collection. They include: "Mounting Fears" by Stuart Woods; "While My Sister Sleeps" by Barbara Delinsky; "Take One" by Karen Kingsbury; "One Day at a Time" by Danielle Steel; "Corsair" by Clive Cussler; "The Geometry of Sisters" by Luanne Rice; "Just Take My Heart" by Mary Higgins Clark; "8th Confession" by James Patterson; "First Family" by David Baldacci; "Loitering With Intent" by Stuart Woods; "Deadlock" by Iris Johansen; "True Detectives" by Jonathan Kellerman; "A Darker Place" by Jack Higgins; "Long Lost" by Harlan Coben; "Paths of Glory" by Jeffrey Archer; "The Second Opinion" by Michael Palmer; "Vision in White" by Nora Roberts; "Malice" by Lisa Jackson; "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" by Mary Ann Shaffer; "Very Valentine" by Adriana Trigiani; "Alex and Me" by Irene M. Pepperberg; "Second Glance" by Jodi Picoult; and "Pursuit" by Karen Robards.
May's Artist of the Month was Gene Webb of Townsend, displaying his wood carvings. June's artist is Kate Marshall of Kate Marshall Graphics, producer of the videos "Season of the Bear" volumes 1 and 2.
The Townsend Book Club meets on the fourth Thursday of every month at 10 a.m. in the library. The book for June 25 is: "Lottery" by Patricia Wood. Please call the library at 448-1441 or Sarah Flack at 980-2110 for more information.
The Mary Tippitt Library is located at 120 Tiger Drive in Townsend. Hours are Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday from Noon to 6 p.m., and Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There is a drop box by the front door for after-hours returns.
Computer access is available to residents and visitors at no charge. Faxing, printing, and copying services are available for a small fee. Visitors are welcome to check out books and/or videos with a temporary patron number and a refundable $20.00 deposit.
