KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Sen. Lamar Alexander is practicing with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra one final time before he performs at the 75th anniversary of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Alexander, who plays the piano, will have a final rehearsal on Friday before the concert is held Saturday in Cades Cove, a popular tourism site in the park.
The senator performed at a 1984 concert honoring the park's 50th anniversary when he was then governor of Tennessee.
Alexander is a native of Blount County, part of which lies in the national park.
