Woman serious after accident

A Walland woman is in serious condition at University of Tennessee Medical Center after an accident at 12:49 a.m. Saturday.

Angela Woliver, 48, West Millers Cove Road, Walland, reportedly walked into a car at 2617 U.S. 411 South in Maryville.

The car was southbound when Woliver walked into the vehicle, striking the driver's side front fender.

She was taken by Rural/Metro Ambulance Service to UT Hospital.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, said Maryville Police Deputy Chief Greg Cooke.

Tank painting may affect water pressure

The City of Maryville announced that the painting of its Greenwood No. 2 water tank on Needmore Hill will begin later this week. The project, a normal part of maintenance operations, should take about one month.

Customers may notice some fluctuation in water pressure because the tank will not be in operation during the project. The six remaining water tanks throughout the city will have to carry the demand and water storage load.

Jack Graham, water quality control assistant director, said the water levels in the existing tanks may fluctuate and lower at times, which could mean lower water pressure to some homes. Customers can call the Water Filtration Plant at 982-7990 if any problems occur with water pressure.

Festival Web site wins award

The SMCVB's festival site, smokymountainfestivals.org, was one of only six Gold ADDY awards in the Interactive category, along with the international brands of Target, BMW, The Gap, All State Insurance and Hyundai.

"To be one of only six Web sites in the nation to receive a Gold ADDY, and to be recognized with such well-known brands is a tremendous honor," said Herb Handly, executive vice president of tourism for the SMCVB. "Each year we evaluate our marketing strategy, and we do our best to utilize our dollars in the best way possible to interest visitors in our area. We have led the way in our region, and in the nation, on many tourism fronts, and we are encouraged to know that these efforts have we are now also leading the way in our interactive marketing approach."
