Arrests

— Jonathan Ty Lett, 34, E. Cumberland Avenue, Louisville, was arrested by Alcoa police on June 20 on a charge of Habitual Motor Vehicle Offender and cited with violating a noise ordinance. He was released on a $5,000 bond pending a 1:30 p.m. June 29 hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court.

Alcoa

— A manager of Subway, 2580 Alcoa Highway, Alcoa, reported at 6:57 a.m. June 19 an alleged embezzlement. She said a June 15 deposit to a bank came up $100 short.

— Jackie Klein, owner of Klein Auto Sales, Etowah, reported at 2:20 p.m. June 19 that a dealer license plate was missing from one of his vehicles at Airport Auto Auction, 3419 Alcoa Highway, Alcoa.

— Roberta Gay, Blockhouse Road, Maryville, reported at 3:02 p.m. June 19 her license plate missing or stolen after parking at Lowe's Home Improvement Center, 1098 Hunter's Crossing Drive, Alcoa.

— Edward Baumann, Austin, Texas, reported at 6 a.m. June 20 through a letter from the Austin Police Department that someone used his personal information in an attempt to get a job at an Alcoa business. The case was referred by the Austin Police Department's Financial Crimes and White Collar Crimes units to Alcoa police for follow-up and investigation.

Maryville

— Gary Cullum, Jr., Wright Road, Maryville, reported at 3 p.m. June 19 that two checkbooks were missing from his residence. When he went to close the account, he learned that several checks had been forged for a total of $385.59.

— Javan Schiferl, Clover Hill Road, Maryville, reported at 3 p.m. June 19 that his wallet was missing from his vehicle. He went to his bank to cancel a debit card and discovered that it had been used at Wal-Mart, 2410 U.S. 411 South, Maryville, to make $370.43 in purchases.

— Tiffany Mathis, Effler Road, Maryville, reported at 9 p.m. June 19 that someone had forged $676.55 worth of her checks. A box of checks had been mailed to her old address in Maryville, and someone allegedly used some of them, according to a Maryville police report.

— Joe Campbell, Dunbarton Drive, Maryville, reported at 9:17 a.m. June 19 that his mailbox, valued at $40, was knocked off its post.

Alcoa

— Alcoa police responded at 4:46 p.m. June 19 to an Alcoa intersection on report of a small child in the road with no parents around. A witness said a child was playing in the road at 4:25 p.m. A woman stopped and got the child out of the road. She said she was there 15 minutes and no one stopped to claim the child. When police located the child's residence, they woke the child's mother, who thought the child was in his bedroom. When officers told her where the child had been found, she said she had tried to keep him inside, but he just kept getting out. Police released the child to his mother. The state Department of Children's Services will also be notified of the incident, according to an Alcoa police report.

— A 21-year-old Alcoa woman reported a case of sexual assault at 8:36 a.m. June 20. She was found by an Alcoa police officer on Wright Road, in front of the police station. She was crying and visibly upset, according to the report. She said that she and a friend had gone to an Alcoa hotel the previous evening, where they visited some people that she didn't know. The two women went swimming and afterward went up to a hotel room and fell asleep. When the 21-year-old woman woke up, a man was on top of her, and he was sexually assaulting her. The friend she had come with had got up and left without waking her. She did not seek medical treatment and refused a sexual assault kit. Alcoa police are investigating the incident.

— David E. Chambers, Concord Road, Rockford, and Scott Miller, Bittle Road, Maryville; at 8:21 a.m. June 19 on Hunt Road at Russell Road. Miller, 26, was reported injured but not taken to a hospital.

Maryville

— Jonathan K. Bradley, Nuchols Road, Maryville, and Vonda Hatcher, Carpenters Campground Road, Maryville; at 4:38 p.m. June 19 on Carpenters Grade Road at Raulston Road. A passenger in Bradley's vehicle was reported injured. Brittney Brooks, 16, Raulston Road, Maryville, was taken to Blount Memorial Hospital by private vehicle. She was treated and released.
