The 2009 National Clean Air Green Tour will make its first and only East Tennessee stop in the foothills of the Smokies at Gatlinburg on Tuesday, June 23.
This mobile marketing initiative will visit more than 70 cities across the United States to educate consumers on the latest advances in sustainability. The tour will give visitors hands-on experience with well-known brands that support environmental awareness including Scott Naturals, Bayer Advanced, Codemasters, Michelin, Gatlinburg Chamber of Commerce and Woman’s Day.
On Tuesday from 8 a.m. until noon, the Clean Air Green Tour will be stationed in front of the Gatlinburg Convention Center. Just after noon, the Tour will move to the Anna Porter Public Library for a Tree Dedication Ceremony. The Gatlinburg Chamber of Commerce and the City of Gatlinburg have partnered to be a Silver Sponsor of the Clean Air Green Tour, and will be planting a tree at the new library in honor of the 75th Anniversary of Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
The third annual national tour features a state-of-the-art 42-foot biodiesel motor coach equipped with solar backup power and is traveling through 44 states in four months, covering more than 30,000 miles on the journey. The Clean Air Green Tour will stop at well-known retailers, as well as several festivals such as Mount Magazine Butterfly Festival in Paris, Arkansas on June 26 and 27, providing visitors with information on ways to maintain a green lifestyle.
The tour will feature a giveaway of great prizes such as a $1,000 gift card to Lowe’s and is sponsored by Scott Naturals and Bayer Advanced. Visitors can register for the giveaway via interactive kiosks at tour stops or online at www.cleanairgreentour.com <http://www.cleanairgreentour.com/> . The winner will be announced at tour’s conclusion in August. Stop by and check out the newly released video game “FUEL” by Codemasters, which will give you an experience of racing through a globally warmed environment.
In addition to distributing information and materials at all stops, the tour has also planted more than 20,000 trees including work on park renovations in Detroit and a major tree planting at the Gardens of the Fox Cities in Appleton, Wisconsin. The Clean Air Green Tour has partnered with the Division of Forestry in Illinois, Michigan, and Kentucky. In addition, the tour will participate in the Adopt-a-Highway program by assisting in cleaning up highways and major interstates along the tour route
“We need assistance through donations so we can reach out to many other communities requesting our presence,” said Jim Paar founder of the Clean Air Green Tour. “The National Clean Air Green Tour is taking every effort to educate consumers on ways to enhance that commitment to green living.”
While consumers are expressing an interest in using ‘green’ household products, many of them currently believe they will have to sacrifice quality and pay more for these products. The Scott Naturals products address this concern by offering solutions that deliver value along with environmental benefits. “Consumers shouldn’t have to sacrifice quality or pay more to feel good about helping the environment,” said Erik Seidel, Scott Brand director. The tour kicked off in Lexington, KY on April 22 and is traveling throughout the country, winding up August 2.
