Arrests
n Pierre Lawrence Cummings, 23, West Watt Street, Alcoa, was arrested by Alcoa police officers at 6:25 p.m. June 21 on a charge of possession of a Schedule II substance with intent to sell or deliver. According to an Alcoa police report, Officer Doug Sparks responded to the report of someone selling drugs on the corner of West Fulton Street and Kelvin Street. Sparks reported that he saw a hand-to-hand exchange, believed to involve drugs, between a pedestrian and someone in a vehicle. Upon questioning and searching Cummings, Sparks said he found a tobacco can containing 13 pieces of crack cocaine. The cocaine was cut into sale size and two $5 bills were found in Cummings' pocket with the crack. He was free on a $2,500 bond pending a 1:30 p.m. June 29 hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court.
n Brandon Tyler Gregory, 20, Lynn Drive, Maryville, was arrested by Blount County Sheriff's deputies on June 22 on a charge of possession of a Schedule VI substance (marijuana). He was free on a $750 bond pending a 9 a.m. July 1 hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court.
n Dale Quincy Hill, 35, Amy Renee Way, Maryville, was arrested by Maryville police officers on June 21 on charges of violation of the Habitual Motor Vehicle Offender Act and identity theft. He was free on bonds totaling $4,000 pending a 9 a.m. June 30 hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court.
n Michael David Jones, 22, Knoxville, was cited by Alcoa police officers at 12:01 a.m. June 21 with possession of a Schedule II substance (Adderall), possession of a Schedule VI substance (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is required to appear in Blount County General Sessions Court to address the citations.

Thefts
Blount County
n Mary N. Williams, Big Springs Ridge Road, Friendsville, reported at 1:10 p.m. June 18 that a credit card was stolen from her residence and used to make purchases.
n Dr. Merrill Moor, Knoxville, reported at 12:02 p.m. June 19 that someone fraudulently obtained his credit card number and made four purchases on June 17 and 18. It was used to make four purchases, totaling $721.44, by someone placing the orders by telephone.
n Whitney M. Gilbert, Red Hill Drive, Louisville, reported at 4:53 a.m. June 19 that she came home to find her air conditioning unit pushed through a window opening and a Dell laptop computer, valued at $500, stolen.
n Stanley Reagan, Rock Hill Road, Maryville, reported at 10:31 a.m. June 19 that someone forcibly entered his residence and shed on June 12 and stole a Craftsman battery charger and drill press, Bosch nail gun, staple gun and turning lathe. Damage to window and value of stolen items were estimated at $2,400.
Animal Shelter
Maryville Animal Shelter, 426 Home Ave., Maryville, which also serves Alcoa, is open 1 to 4:30 p.m. Monday, 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Photos of most of the adoptable animals can be seen at www.arfnets.org. Animals will be put to sleep on the date indicated unless someone calls for them and pays fees and board bills due.

Blount County Animal Control may be contacted at 228-0024. Animals are taken to the Loudon County Animal Shelter, 250 Jamie Drive in Sugarlimb Industrial Park off Highway 11. The shelter is open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday. Call 865-458-5593.
