Dovie Virginia Russell Glandon
Dovie Virginia Russell Glandon, age 78. Born Jan. 10, 1931, in rural Blount County, to parents, McKinley and Dollie Russell. On June 24, 2009, Dovie was reunited with her parents, Dollie and McKinley; her late husband, Coy; and her son, Jackie. Surviving include sons, James, Jerry, Harold, Michael and wife Crystal, and Bobby and wife Diane, all of Maryville; daughters, Joyce and husband Jeff McGill, Carolyn and husband Steve Beals, Shirley and husband Dale Pritchard, Debbie and husband Doug Ray, all of Maryville, and Sandy and Greg Monger of Tellico Plains; brother, Earl Russell; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and one due in September. The family will receive friends Friday, June 26, 2009, from 6-8 p.m. with the funeral following, lead by Rev. Eddie McDaniel, at Smith Trinity Chapel. Sarah Ernestine 'Ernie' Kackenmester
Sarah Ernestine "Ernie" Kackenmester, 83, of Oak Ridge, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 30, 2009. She was born Aug. 31, 1925, to the late Floyd and Jennie Robinson of Alcoa. She had lived most of her life in Oak Ridge, before moving to Chattanooga three years ago. While living in Oak Ridge, Ernie worked as a Technical Librarian in the Nuclear Division of ORNL at the Y-12 and X-10 Plants for 47 years. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Lois Wagner, Jewel Knott; and her devoted and loving partner, Bill Unger. Survivors include her daughter, Cindy Snyder; grandson, Michael Snyder; granddaughters, Christy Snyder and Lisa Snyder, all of Chattanooga; sisters, Jama Kelso of Columbus, Ind., and Linda (Denny) Huber of Floyds Knob, Ind.; brother-in-law, Aubrey Knott of Paris; and several nieces and nephews. Carol Ann Law, age 75, of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Maryville Healthcare. She was a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, George and Ida Miller; husband, Ralph Law; sister, Dorothy Hamil; brother, Bob Miller. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Tommy Tallent, Betsy and Randy Satterfield; granddaughters, Kelley and Diana Tallent, Taylor Satterfield; brother, Jim Miller; sisters, Betty Hoglen, Mattie Johnston, Juanita Hammond; several nieces and nephews. Marjorie 'Margie' Elgin McCammon
Marjorie (Margie) Elgin McCammon of Maryville entered the presence of God on Tuesday, June 23, 2009. She was a longtime member of Broadway United Methodist Church, Wesley Fellowship Sunday School Class, and United Methodist Women. Margie was a graduate of Knoxville High School and The University of Tennessee, where she was a member of Chi Omega Fraternity. A classroom teacher at The Calvert Methods School in Durham, N.C., she was also a board member of The Blount County Children's Home, president of The Maryville Cotillion and a member of The Maryville Junior Service League. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Raleigh (A.R.) McCammon, Jr.; parents, L. Sloan and Nancy Y. Elgin; brother, Lester S. Elgin, Jr. of Knoxville; and sister, Dorothy E. Cross of Chattanooga. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Arthur Raleigh (Rol) III and Katherine (Kiki) L. McCammon, Knoxville; and daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela (Pam) M. and John C. Davis, Rogersville, and Mary Nell (Mimi) M. and Frederic (Fred) John Bury III, Louisville. She also leaves grandchildren, Joseph Browning (Brown) Parrott, Knoxville, Raleigh Virginia Parrott, California, Frederic John Bury IV, John Arthur Bury, Arthur Raleigh McCammon IV, and Elgin (Ellie) Ayres McCammon, all of Knoxville. Nieces include Carla C. Hill, Florida and Carol C. O'Deay, Oregon. A celebration of her life will be held at Broadway United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Friday with Rev. Amy Probst officiating.
