Welshan claims the Sportsman feature at the Mountain

Two-time track champion Jason Welshan takes jumped out on the start ahead of Mark Dyer, who was the outside pole, to win the Tennessee RV Sportsman feature at Mountain Raceway Saturday night.
Dyer had a fine run going in second until his motor expired, relinquishing his spot to Mark Rosner who ended up being the best finisher for Hoosier in second. Jake Teague, last year's champion, came home in third. Veteran David Crabtree raced his way to fourth, while Hunter Best rounded out the top five in a caution free event.
The Mini Late Models had two features with Devin Canter and Joshua Moore claiming checkered flags.
Dustin Holt became another first time winner in the Pure Minis, winning the feature from the pole. Points leader Tony Dunkley pressured Holt the entire way but settled for second to pad his points lead. Angie Young continues to impress coming home third. Ronnie Bibbins and Tammy White raced hard for fourth and fifth respectively.
Tommy Newton won the Modified Minis from the pole and Roy Smith took second in the attrition-filled feature.
Once again it was domination time for the XXX of Tom Vann winning the Mini Stock from the pole. David Benson had a season best finish in second after battling third place finisher Greg Muse.
After a rough start in the Street Stock, it was pole sitter Jonathan Sims dashing his way to victory for his sixth win. Jeff McLemore ran second, while 2008 champion Quinn Bender placed third.
Hunter Best once again pulling double duty racing in two classes managed to put his Nesmith Late Model in victory lane winning from the pole. Best had a scare after witnessing outside pole sitter Chuck Laney collect the wall on the start while battling for the lead. Current points leader Josh Henry raced his way to second. Brent Hensley continues to show his muscle in third. Last week's winner Chris Ritchey finished in fourth and Justin Summers repaired his racer from an accident last week to earn fifth.
July 4 will be Round 3 of "The Hot Summer Night Tire Fights." Also, a challenge has gone out to see who is best Street Stock driver in East Tennessee. A 40-lap feature will be on tap in the Street Stock with $800 on the line for the winner.
