MARY 'NEEN' BOWMAN ARNOLD
Mary "Neen" Bowman Arnold, age 87, formerly of Maryville, died June 27, 2009, at Alois Alzheimer Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Ms. Arnold was preceded in death by her husband, Lee A. Arnold; parents, Essie Mae and John Frank Bowman; sister, Margie Milburn; brother, T.F. Bowman. Ms. Arnold was a registered nurse for many years at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church and the Iva Moore Sunday school class in Maryville. She was a graduate of Harriman High School and The University of Tennessee School of Nursing in Memphis. Survived by her sons, Lee Alan Arnold II and wife Nancy, John Arnold, both of Titusville, Fla.; daughter, Carol Arnold of Newport, Ky.; granddaughter, Brandi Van Booven; great-granddaughters, Addison and Avery; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009, at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Amy Probst officiating. Interment service will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Eugene "Gene" Bright, age 88, of Maryville, passed away Monday, June 29, 2009, at his home. He was a member of Grace Memorial Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edd and Georgia Williams Bright; sisters, Gay Bright, Imogene Heaton, Annie Millsaps; brothers, Baxter, Ben and Kenneth Bright. Survivors include his wife, Anna Lue Bright; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Connie Bright of Maryville; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Richard Gibson of Knoxville, Susan and James Brooks of Maryville; grandchildren, April Eichholtz and husband Stephen and David Bright and wife Merideth, Benjamin Brooks, Daniel Brooks and wife Lauren, Katelyn Brooks, Kevin Bivens and wife Ami; great-grandchildren, Walker and Hunter Bivens, Elise Eichholtz; brother and sister-in-law, Allan and Barbara Bright of Maryville. Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Sunderland officiating. Mark A. Coleman
Mark A. Coleman, age 43, of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2009, at University of Tennessee Medical Center. He was a loving son, father and papaw. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, F.A. and Wilhelmina Coleman and W.O. and Helen Hearon; mother, Nancy K. Coleman. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Meshaela and Joe McNeese of Maryville; grandson, Thorin McNeese; father, Harold W. Coleman of Maryville; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Mark will be missed by a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2009, at Smith Chapel. Funeral service 3 p.m. Monday with Rev. Jerry Scott officiating. Snell Austin Mills, Jr.
Snell Austin Mills, Jr., 75, died on Saturday, June 27, 2009, following a sudden illness. He was born in Brewster, Fla., on Sept. 12, 1933, and moved to Inverness in 1936. He graduated from Citrus High School in 1951, Maryville College in 1955, and received his Doctorate of Education from the University of Alabama in 1965. He worked in the field of education for 30 years, and retired from the Dekalb County School system in Georgia in 1988. After retirement, he returned to Inverness to operate the family orange grove. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Olivia Vawter Mills; his mother, Louise Mills; his children, Sharon Louise Mills (daughter), Ed Hensley (son-in-law), Snell Austin Mills III (son), and Carrie Eby Mills (daughter-in-law); as well as his aunt, Tommie Lee Hagan, and sister-in-law, Sara Vawter Lyons, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service was held in Inverness, Fla. Family and friends will meet at 3 p.m. Thursday at Magnolia Cemetery for a graveside service with Rev. Ron Matthews officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service in the William R. Allen Fellowship Hall at Broadway United Methodist Church. Polly Ogle
Polly Ogle, age 64, of Townsend, passed away Monday, June 29, 2009, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and worked for over 20 years at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary Miller Bryant. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Wayne Ogle of Townsend; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and William Johnson of Townsend; son, Troy Ogle and companion Ann Jackson of Townsend; granddaughter, Delia Ogle of Maryville; special niece, Sharon Ogle of Maryville; brother-in-law, Fred Ogle and wife Barbara of Tallassee; sisters-in-law, Barbara Leonard and husband Bill, Rose Mary Ogle, all of Maryville; brother, Allen Bryant; several nieces and nephews. Edna Earle Witzel, of Alcoa, died June 29, 2009, at her home. She was a member of First Baptist Church Maryville, was employed in her earlier years as a secretary at ALCOA, Crum Insurance and Department of Human Services. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Vernon Witzel; parents, A.C. and Fawn Nicely. She is survived by her son, Thomas Clifton (Tommy) Witzel; sister, Willie Ruth Atchley; uncle and aunt, Glen and Margaret Nicely; aunt, Edna Acuff; special cousins, Doris and Lawrence Ritter, Gary and Kathy Acuff, Martha and Deedle Walker and several other cousins; special friends, Christine and Ralph Patterson and family, Shirley and Harold Breeden and family, Tammy and Gary Presley and family, Elaine and Sankie Baldwin and family; brother-in-law, Maynard and Pat Witzel.
