Personal finance course set for July 14
Financial Peace University, a popular 13-session personal finance course by Dave Ramsey, will begin July 14 at Maryville Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2921 Sevierville Road. The class will meet at 6:30 p.m. and will focus on how to save money, live on a budget, communicate about money, eliminate debt, etc.
The course is open to the public at a cost of $100 per family. Registration is required by July 6. Call Edith Moore at 379-1840.
Tippitt library offers summer reading program
The Mary E. Tippitt Memorial Library in Townsend will be offering its Summer Reading Program, "Be Creative @ Your Library," in July. The dates are July 9 ("Mr. David, the Bug Man"), July 16 (Talent show for kids and adults), July 23 (special guest Ronald McDonald) and July 30 (picnic and awards at Townsend City Park). Children ages 3 to 11 are welcome. All programs are from 1 to 3 p.m. Stop by the library to register.
Art exhibit set at Tennessee Valley church
An exhibit featuring the art quilts of Sheila Rauen and the oil and latex paintings of Heather Middlebrooks will be on display from July 7 through Sept. 7 at Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church art gallery. The opening reception will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. July 10, with the artists speaking informally and answering questions about their work.
The church is located at 2931 Kingston Pike in Knoxville.
Program on coupons at Blount library
Jennifer Wilson will offer advice on saving with coupons at a program to be presented at 7 p.m. July 9 at the Blount County Public Library.
After working as an executive assistant for 10 years, Wilson is a stay-at-home mom of three children. She is able to save her family over $1,000 each month using coupons.
She is founder of Coupon Mommie (www.couponmommie.com and will share some of her smart shopping tactics for saving on grocery bills.
