A Rockford man was arrested on Saturday after he allegedly stabbed another man in the yard of a Maryville residence.
Clay D. Carroll, 40, Calvert Street, Rockford, was charged with aggravated assault in the incident, which happened at 11:38 a.m. A relative, Justin Brooks Carroll, 28, Goose Creek, S.C., was charged with accessory after the fact because he allegedly drove the vehicle that took the elder Carroll from the scene.
The victim, Timothy J. Dorsey, 20, Big Springs Road, Friendsville, was treated and released at Blount Memorial Hospital.
Clay Carroll allegedly walked up to Dorsey while he was using a weed trimmer at an Old Mt. Tabor Road residence and stabbed him in the right side with a razor-type knife, according to Maryville Police Chief Tony Crisp. The incident and its cause are under investigation, he indicated.
When Maryville police arrived, Dorsey was standing in the yard, holding a blood-covered shirt against his side. He had a two-inch cut.
The Carrolls were spotted on Old Mt. Tabor Road in a copper-colored Ford Edge, which Dorsey later identified. Authorities stopped the SUV on Hunt Road at Springbrook Road in Alcoa and took the two men into custody.
Clay Carroll is being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond pending a 9 a.m. July 14 hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court. Justin Carroll is being held in lieu of a $5,000 bond pending a hearing at the same time and location.
