A storage trailer was destroyed by fire late Thursday night in Friendsville.

The call came in at 10:10 p.m. to the communications center and the fire was fully involved when Friendsville Volunteer Fire Department arrived on the scene, according to Friendsville Fire public information officer Steve Hargis.

"The fire wasn't far from the fire station, but it was back in a hollow and getting back there was a real chore because we had to have four-wheel-drive to get there," Hargis said.

The big department brush pumper, which carries 800 gallons, was used. A normal tanker carries 1,000 gallons.

"We had to keep shuttling water to the fire. We used 2,500 gallons," he said.

The trailer had evidently been a residence at one time because the trailer was on blocks, but was now used strictly for storage and it had no electricity, he said.

Cause of the fire is unknown.

Owner of the trailer was Divna Holliday, West Lamar Alexander Parkway, Friendsville.

The firefighters had the fire under control by 11:20 and were back at the station by 11:40 p.m.

Fifteen firefighters and four trucks were sent to the scene by Friendsville.
