Police responded Saturday to a rash of car burglaries that left at least seven people victimized and $7,650 worth of property missing.

Six of the vehicle burglaries took place in the area of Lori Lea Drive, with one taking place less than two miles away on Pickering Circle.

The first call came from John Wishmire, Lori Lea Drive, Maryville, who reported at 8:08 a.m. Saturday that he had left his vehicle unsecured overnight and when he checked it that morning, several items had been taken from it. Shortly after, five people with vehicles on Lori Lea Drive -- Amy Hope Hansard, Vicky Louise Cody, Julia Katherine Rosa, Megan Obrassill, Brittany Summerlyn Jensen, and Melanie Lynn Mills -- all reported their vehicles had also been broken into.

According to a Maryville police report, "all of the vehicles were ransacked," and numerous items were taken. All were also left unsecured overnight, with the exception of Mills' vehicle.

Items reported taken from the six vehicles were a Garmin NUVI GPS, Samsung cell phone, 375 CDs, $60 in cash, a TomTom GPS, radar detector, and Sony car stereo, valued at a total of $6,650.

About two miles away, Bobby Shaffer, Pickering Circle, Maryville, reported at 11:49 a.m. Saturday that his vehicle was also broken in to while it was parked overnight at his residence. Shaffer reported that two C10 Kickers speakers, a ZX 250.2 amplifier, Sony iPod interface, CDX GT520 Sony radio, and a tan speaker box -- valued at a total of $1,000 -- were taken from his Ford Ranger pickup truck. A hand saw was found near the vehicle and was believed to have been used to cut the speaker wires in the truck, a Maryville police report said.
