Springbrook Sprint Triathlon slated Saturday in Alcoa

The Alcoa City Schools Foundation and the Blount Memorial Foundation have partnered to support health and fitness in our community and schools.
On Saturday at 8 a.m., the 3rd annual Springbrook Sprint Triathlon will be hosted at Springbrook pool in Alcoa. Children and adults are encouraged to register online at RaceDayEvents.net.
Proceeds will benefit Alcoa Middle School, which will provide 30 volunteers The event is sponsored by Blount Memorial Hospital.
"A sprint distance triathlon is perfect for beginners," said Sam Tingle, an Alcoa student and two time participant. "You start with an easy 200-meter swim at Springbrook Pool, next a 9-mile bicycle ride on flat terrain, and finally a scenic 3-mile run through Springbrook Park."
Community service hours are available to students who volunteer at the event from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Volunteers, be sure to wear your Alcoa T-shirts.
