Amber Williams has been named Heritage Middle School’s new assistant principal.
She is replacing Steve Stout, who was named a Heritage High School assistant principal.
Williams began working in 1991 for Blount County Schools as site director for Lanier Elementary School’s extended school program. In 1992, she became a full-time special education teaching assistant at Walland Elementary and also served as the girls’ basketball coach.
Williams became a Lanier Elementary School second grade teacher during the 1993-94 school year. Following the ’93-’94 school year, she resigned from Blount County Schools and relocated with her family to the upper East Tennessee area.
Williams continued her teaching career with Greene County Schools at West Pines Elementary School. She worked until 1998 for Greene County Schools when the family moved back to the Maryville area. Williams was rehired in 1998 by Blount County Schools and assigned to Porter Elementary School. She remained at Porter Elementary School until the opening of Heritage Middle School during the 2000-2001 school year.
Williams has remained at Heritage Middle School as a language arts teacher until this appointment.
“Amber has assisted me with administrative tasks off and on at Heritage Middle, and I am pleased to have her as my assistant principal. She has strong leadership skills and she knows the students and community,” said Dr. Jesse Robinette, the school’s principal.
Williams grew up in Blount County and attended Alnwick Elementary School, Friendsville Elementary School — which was a K-8 school at that time — and graduated in 1987 from William Blount High School. She received her bachelor’s degree from Tennessee Wesleyan College in 1991. Williams has also received her master’s degree in administration leadership from Tennessee Tech University.
