City of Maryville 2009 property taxes are due beginning today. Payments will be accepted beginning Wednesday at the Maryville Municipal Center, 400 W. Broadway, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and at most local banks.
Property taxes may also be paid on the city Web page www.ci.maryville.gov.
Tax notices are not required by state law, but are being sent as a reminder and for informational purposes to all taxpayers, even if your taxes are paid by a mortgage company. A copy will also be sent to your lender.
Notices will be mailed around Sept. 1, but any Maryville property owner who has not received a notice by Oct. 1 should notify the Financial Services Department at 273-3456. Penalties and interest accrue for unpaid property taxes beginning Dec. 1 and monthly thereafter.
Residents who are permanently disabled or 65 years or older may be eligible for the state Tax Relief Program. Those applying must own and live at the property and their total income from all sources cannot exceed $25,360 for the calendar year 2008. For more information on this program call 273-3499.
