The Alcoa Tornadoes remain atop the Class 3A Associated Press state prep football poll this week, having garnered 189 points in the voting by Tennessee prep sports writers and editors.
Milan, Alcoa's opponent in last year's state championship game, is also 3-0 on the season and second in the poll, followed by Knoxville's Austin-East, a winner last week over Fulton. The Tornadoes (3-0) travel to face the Falcons in a Thursday night contest.
Christian Academy of Knoxville is seventh in the 3A poll.
Maryville, which improved to 1-1 on the season with an offensive showcase against Knox West last week, remains at No. 4 in the Class 6A rankings, with District 4-AAA foe Farragut holding the top spot.
Ooltewah is second, Oakland third and Bearden fifth.
In Class 5A, Henry County and Knoxville Catholic swapped places at the top, with Henry County taking over the No. 1 position and Catholic dropping to second. Clinton, off to a surprising 3-0 start, is at No. 4.
Fulton is second in the Class 3A poll, falling from last week's No. 1 ranking after a loss to Austin-East. Red Bank tops that classification with Giles County in the third spot.
In Class 2A, Boyd Buchanan is No. 1, with Signal Mountain and Trousdale County second and third, respectively.
Perennial power South Pittsburg is ranked tops in Class A, while Ensworth is the No. 1-ranked program among Division II private schools.
