Jeffrey Scott Long charged in wife's slaying, bond set at $525,000

Alcoa Police officers have formally charged Jeffrey Scott Long in connection with the death of his wife, Janas Marie Long, last Thursday.
“We conducted an interview (with Long) Saturday,” Alcoa Detective Kris Sanders said Monday. “We consulted with the attorney general and charged him with criminal homicide and especially aggravated burglary.”
Long was being held in the Blount County Jail in lieu of $525,000 bond.

Janas Long, 57, was found dead in a large pool of blood Thursday night in her Louisville apartment on Cerritos Way, according to a police report.
Jeffrey Long's preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Sept. 21 at 1:30 p.m. in Blount County's General Sessions Court with Judge William Brewer, Sanders said.
