Two Vonore residents have been arrested and charged with promoting the manufacture of methamphetamine, according to Blount County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Marian O'Briant.

Following a traffic stop about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. Highway 411, investigators with the 5th Judicial District Drug Task Force were notified that Angela Dawn Mitchell, 40, and Herman Ray Garrett, 46, were buying supplies to produce meth at various locations in Maryville and Alcoa. At the traffic stop several components to manufacture the drug were found in the vehicle.

Both are scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. Sept. 30 in Blount County General Sessions Court.

Mitchell posted her $5,000 bond late Wednesday night, but Garrett is still being held in the Blount County Jail in lieu of $5000 bond.
