The spooky season is upon us, and with it comes a variety of Halloween activities around East Tennessee. Here's a list of events taking place through the end of the month:

-- The Oakes Farm Corn Maze "Trail of Doom," 8240 Corryton Road in Corryton, will operate tonight, Saturday and Thursday through Oct. 17; Oct. 22-24; and Oct. 26-31. Admission is $15 for adults and $13 for kids ages 10 and younger, although it's billed as "not for the faint of heart." The "Trail of Doom" opens at sundown. (Not recommended for small children). -- For the Last Friday Art Walk on Oct. 30, the 16-piece big band known as The Streamliners will transform into "The Screamliners" for a special Halloween show at The Capitol Theatre, 127 W. Broadway Ave. in downtown Maryville. Patrons are encouraged to dress up and swing to popular Halloween dance hits beneath classic horror videos on the big screen. It begins at 9 p.m.; admission is $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Call 980-1966.

-- The classic campy horror film "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" will be screened on Oct. 24 at The Tennessee Theatre, 604 S. Gay St. in downtown Knoxville. Doors open at 10 p.m. for a costume contest and door prizes, and the film begins at 11:30 p.m. Approved props include: newspapers, water pistols (no larger than the palm of your hand), flashlights, rubber gloves, noisemakers, toilet paper, neoprene toast, party hats, bells, cards, hot dogs (neoprene only) and prunes (neoprene only). Not allowed: rice, candles, confetti, glitter or real food items. Admission is $8. Call 684-1200.

-- The 23nd Annual Boo! at the Zoo takes place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15 through Oct. 18 and Oct. 22-25 at the Knoxville Zoo, off exit 392-A from Interstate 40 in East Knoxville. Participants can stroll down the Boo! trail for trick-or-treating or take other paths to Kids Cove and enjoy karaoke at the Monster Mash, meet costumed characters, ride the Haunted Carousel and more. Admission is $6, plus $4 for parking, and children younger than 2 are admitted free. No animals will be on exhibit. Call 637-5331.

-- James White's Fort will be the launching point for "Hearthscares: The Ghost Tour of Downtown Knoxville," which takes place at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 26-30, starting at the fort, located at the intersection of Hill Avenue and Hall of Fame Drive in downtown Knoxville. The tours will cover about a mile. Admission is $8 for adults 13 and older and $6 for children ages 5-12. Call 525-6514.

-- The Blount County Parks and Recreation Department will host the annual Halloween Fun event for ages 3-12 at the Everett Recreation Center in Maryville from 6-9:30 p.m. Oct. 24. Guests are encouraged to get there early in order to take part in most of the activities. Activities include carnival games, costume contests and more. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Admission is $6 for children registered through Oct. 23, and $8 the day of the event. (Accompanying adults are admitted free.) Call 983-9244.

-- Blount Mansion will present its annual "Ghosts and Ghouls Walking Tour" of downtown Knoxville at 7 p.m. Oct. 26-30. Costumed guides will lead groups by lantern light through downtown streets to the places where tales of bravery, murder and intrigue originally took place. Admission is $8 for adults ($6 for students), and the mansion is located at 200 W. Hill Ave. in downtown Knoxville. For more information, call 525-2375.

-- The Knoxville Police Department will hold its Halloween in the City from 5-8 p.m. Oct. 30 at Safety City, off Concord Street (between Kingston Pike and Sutherland Avenue) in Knoxville. Festivities will include free food and beverages, a costume contest, a magic show, a model train display, clowns, games and candy. Admission is free. For more information, call 215-7103.

-- "Dead Man's Farm," a haunted house set up at 9567 Highway 11 in Lenoir City, is open 7-10 p.m. tonight and Saturday (Oct. 9-10); 7-11 p.m. Oct. 16 and 17; 7-10 p.m. Oct. 22; 7-11 p.m. Oct. 23-24; 7-10 p.m. Oct. 26-28; 7-11 p.m. Oct. 29; and 7 p.m. to midnight Oct. 30 and 31. -- "Frightmare Manor" is a double attraction located in the old Dandridge Seafood Restaurant on Highway 11-E between Jefferson City and Morristown (physical address: 7588 W. Andrew Johnson Highway, Talbott). Billed as "an intense, startling, often in-your-face haunted attraction." Hours are 7-11 p.m. tonight, Saturday and Oct. 27-29; 7 p.m. to midnight Oct. 23 and 24; and 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Oct. 30 and 31. -- The "FrightWorks" haunted house is set up at 6634 Central Avenue Pike in Knoxville and is open 7-10 p.m. tonight and Saturday, Oct. 22, Oct. 25 and Oct. 27-28; 7-11 p.m. Oct. 16-17, Oct. 23-24 and Oct. 29; and 7 p.m. to midnight Oct. 30-31. Admission is $13 ($16 for a "fast pass" that bypasses long lines), and special guests are scheduled: participants from the "Knoxville Zombie Walk" tonight and Saturday; the Hard Knox Roller Girls on Oct. 16 and 22; representatives from Goblinhaus on Oct. 17; the White Lightnin' Burlesque Troupe on Oct. 23; and Salome Cabaret on Oct. 24.
