VONORE -- A Madisonville woman was injured Tuesday afternoon in a crash on U.S. Highway 411 at the Highway 72 West intersection.
William Orth, 63, Parker, Colo., was traveling south on U.S. Highway 411 hauling a box trailer containing vintage motorcycles when a vehicle crossed from northbound U.S. Highway 411 onto State Route 72 West, according to Vonore Police Officer Kevin Osborne.
Orth said he slowed to avoid a crash and then Ashley Nicole Grimes, 22, Lands Road, Madisonville, driving a Chevrolet Cavalier, also started to cross in front of Orth.
Orth said he saw the car coming toward him, so he accelerated in an attempt to avoid that one as well, but Grimes struck the trailer's axle.
Grimes suffered a broken arm in the crash and was transported to Blount Memorial Hospital by Monroe County EMS paramedics.
Officer Osborne charged Grimes with failure to provide insurance and failure to yield the right-of-way.
Vonore Fire/Rescue and Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department assisted paramedics with on-scene treatment and Vonore Police Captain Earl Long and Officer Mack Williams assisted with traffic control.
