The six churches comprising Friendsville Quarterly Meeting are hosting a revival featuring Curt McGhee. He will be speaking at Maryville Friends on Tuesday and at Friendsville Friends on Wednesday.
McGhee was born in Madisonville and grew up in Loudon County. He attended Loudon High, where as a senior, he sensed a calling to ministry. His college years were spent at Hiwassee and Tennessee Wesleyan.
While at Wesleyan, McGhee pastored several churches in the Sweetwater area. He received a Master of Divinity degree from Asbury Seminar in Wilmore, Ky. and was ordained an elder in the United Methodist Church in 1988. For three years he traveled as a United Methodist evangelist preaching and sharing the gospel in more than 65 places.
In June of 2009, he became senior pastor of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Chattanooga. He continues to travel and preach in the Southeast.
He plays guitar and writes songs to compliment his preaching ministry.
McGhee and his wife Donna have three sons, Jared, Jeff and Josh. They reside in Catoosa County, Ga. near Chattanooga.
The two churches in Blount County will begin with a carry-in meal at 6 p.m. and a time for prayer at 7 p.m. McGhee will deliver the message at 7:30 p.m.
