WB's Homecoming, play rehearsals part of activities

On Oct. 2 William Blount celebrated its 2009 football homecoming. The homecoming court consisted of freshmen Brooke Cumings, Elizabeth Hampton, Daniel Peffley, and Terrell Williamson; sophomores Roma Campbell, Jenna Gillespie, Lee Glover, and Joe Gregory; juniors Olivia Edwards, Nikki Hammontree, Jeremiah Higgins, and Pete Kenny; seniors Rieanna Campbell, Ashley Harper, Katie Haworth, Katie Norton, Katie Spears, Micah Ballard, Caleb Elkins, Josh Jackson, John Kurtz, and Ty McBrayer. Micah Ballard and Katie Haworth were chosen as king and queen.

The WB Vagabond Players are preparing for its fall performance of "You Can't Take It With You," by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, under the direction of the new Theatre Arts teacher, Renda Crowe.

Characters of this play include: Lindsey Lowe as Penelope Sycamore, Olivia Crowe as Essie, Megan Butler and Elise Harris as Rheba, Josh Shelton as Paul Sycamore, Jacob Nolan as Mr. De Pinna, Dustin Payne as Ed, Jesse McDaniel as Donald, Tyler Broadway as Martin Vanderhof, Lesli Crowe as Alice, Hunter Lands as Henderson, Joseph Gregory as Tony Kirby, Silas Mason as Boris Kolenkhov, Amy Beam and Ashley Deyo as Gay Wellington, Jackson Dale as Mr. Kirby, Michaela McMurtery as Mrs. Kirby, Kelsea Gilliland as Olga, and Ashley Arden, Erin Gilliland. Julianne Jones, Kassidy Murphy, and Brandon Adams as scene characters. The play's opening night is at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 10, and will continue showing through Dec. 12.

The Model UN (MUN) is gearing up for a year full of debate and international politics. MUN is an academic club that educates students about the United Nations and international issues. Students will research a country and learn what the values are of that particular country. Members become experts on their chosen country, take on diplomatic roles, debate with other student diplomats, and come up with effective solutions. Members will compete with other students from different schools and meet many new people from different areas.

Officers include Candice Lawton as president, Elise Harris as vice-president, Megan Butler as secretary, Emily Guilluame as treasurer, and Jason Rowe as advisor. If interested, meetings take place at 7:50 a.m. every Thursday in room 114.
