Maryville and Alcoa held steady in the latest Tennessee high school football poll. The Rebels (8-1), District 4-AAA champions, stayed second in Class 6A behind unbeaten Ooltewah (9-0) while the Tornadoes (9-0) maintained their stranglehold on the top spot in Class 3A as voted on by Associated Press sportswriters and broadcasters across the state.
Maryville received three first-place votes, while the Tornadoes were a near-unanimous leader with 19 of 20 first-place votes in Class 3A.
Alcoa's opponent this week, Christian Academy of Knoxville (9-0), received the only other first-place vote in the class after a 14-13 win over No. 8 Elizabethon (7-2), which dropped two spots. The Tornadoes and Warriors meet Friday night in Knoxville to decide the District 4-AA championship.
The Rebels remained No. 2 for the second straight week. A win this week over Lenoir City would give Maryville an unbeaten district run and momentum going into the playoffs.
