New Blount County Animal center will open Monday

The new Blount County Animal Center will open Monday.
The public will be able to surrender animals at the shelter, located behind the Boys and Girls Club, 241 Currie Ave., Maryville. Animals will also be available for adoption for a nominal fee that will include spaying, neutering and rabies shots.
The animal shelter will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The phone number is 980-6244. Stray animals will be held at the shelter for a minimum of three days. Pets with tags will be held five days to give the owners a chance to claim them.
