KNOXVILLE -- It was back to work Sunday evening for the Vol football team fresh off its 31-13 win over South Carolina.
The bruised and battered Vols practiced for more than an hour to get the soreness out and to get corrections made from the South Carolina game.
The Vols were minus an offensive player. Freshman Nu'keese Richardson was not on the practice field and the Pahokee, Fla. native is not dealing with any injury. UT head coach Lane Kiffin just acknowledged that there was a problem and that he would say more about Richardson's status later in the week.
As for the offensive players who were there, Kiffin said they had plenty to correct after a poor outing Saturday night.
"I am very disappointed in the offense," Kiffin said. "We had a lot of missed assignments. We left a lot of yards out there. Their defense did a good job, but it was about us. Our defense played really good and put us in position to score touchdowns with the four turnovers, but we have a long ways to go.
"Offensively we could have lost that game. We made too many mistakes and didn't play very well up front. After all of that, we protected the football. If you don't have turnovers, then you are going to be in a position to win games."
