Twenty years ago this month, the Berlin Wall fell. East and West Germany were reunified. Students in Ken Brown's German classes are going to remember the event with their own celebration. On Nov. 9, students will hold a candlelight march, much like what was done in Germany 20 years ago, and walk down to Alcoa's Painted Bridge. Students will then paint graffiti they have designed on the bridge to resemble the graffiti left on the Berlin Wall. There will also be speakers on hand to discuss what life was like when the Berlin Wall was up and how life was different between East Germany and West Germany. Plans are being made to expand this project to include other countries that have fought, or are fighting, for democracy.
