Maryville City Council approved on first reading rezoning property at 2315 Old Niles Ferry Road from Business/Transportation to Residential.

The property was annexed into the city in 1997 and maps were not as precise at that time and the property was zoned Business/Transportation and Residential.

The property has a house located on it and the BT zone goes through the middle, said Maryville Development Services Director John Jagger.

Owners want to subdivide the property into two tracts and leave the one closest to Market Place Drive BT and rezone the one closest to Old Niles Ferry Road as Residential.

Council approved on second and final reading a housekeeping item amending the 2009 city budget.

The amendment adds expenses for a spring concert of the Knoxville Symphony Chamber Orchestra at the Greenbelt Amphitheater of $8,257, which were funded by a sponsor.

It also adds $900,000 for refinancing 13 outstanding bond issues.
