Power is out in the William Blount Drive area of Maryville following a dump truck accident at 1:13 a.m. today.

Dana Green, Byrdstown, was driving a dump truck from the Finchum Construction Co. business, 1701 William Blount Drive, Maryville.

The driver thought the truck bed was lowered, but it was not completely down and snagged the electric lines, said Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Phillip Warren.

Power pole snapped

When the truck hit the lines, it caused one utility pole to break in two places, leaving the area without power, and resulted in the truck flipping over onto its side, leaking diesel fuel.

Fort Loudoun Electric Cooperative linemen are currently working to replace the pole and restore power to the area.

Blount County Sheriff's Office deputies are at the wreck site. They have blocked off William Blount Drive at West Lamar Alexander Parkway to all but local traffic. Blount County Fire Department personnel are also on the scene.

Officers indicated it will take several hours to clean up the wreck site.

The driver was not injured.
