Local residents pass CPA exam

Barbara J. Campbell, of Maryville, Mark H. Fuentes, of Seymour; Allen C. Rippetoe, of Townsend; and Stephen Leonard, of Walland, are among 151 candidates who recently passed the Uniform Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Examination, the Tennessee State Board of Accountancy announced.
The Uniform CPA Examination is one of the nation's most comprehensive examinations. The exam is delivered in a computer-based format eight months of the year at test centers throughout the U.S. Sections covered in the computer-based test include auditing and attestation, financial accounting and reporting, regulation and business environment and concepts.
To be eligible to sit for the exam, candidates must have completed a minimum of 150 semester hours, which include a baccalaureate or higher degree from an academic institution recognized by the Tennessee State Board of Accountancy, with a minimum of 24 semester hours in accounting and 24 semester hours in general business subjects.
Upon passing the exam, the successful candidates were inducted as members of the Tennessee Society of CPAs and its Knoxville Chapter.
