Electricity was out in the William Blount Drive area of Maryville almost three hours following a dump truck accident at 1:13 p.m. Thursday.

The outage was from Big Springs Road to Stinnett's Body Shop, and included a traffic light.

Dana Green, Byrdstown, was driving a dump truck from Finchum Construction Co., 1701 William Blount Drive, Maryville. The driver thought the truck bed was lowered, but it was not completely down and snagged the electric lines, said Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Phillip Warren.

The driver was not injured.

When the truck hit the lines, it caused one utility pole to break in two places, leaving the area without power. The impact caused the truck to flip over onto its side, leaking diesel fuel.

Fort Loudoun Electric Cooperative linemen worked until 1:55 p.m. to replace the pole and restore power to the area. A Fort Loudoun official said workers had to install a new pole and later will have to install anchors for the line.

Blount County Sheriff's Office deputies blocked off William Blount Drive at West Lamar Alexander Parkway to all but local traffic. Blount County Fire Department personnel were also on the scene.

Fire and police cleared the scene at 3 p.m.
