A Walland man was charged with evading arrest after a high-speed chase that ended when he crashed his vehicle in the Walland area.
Tyler Burlynn Willis, 19, Barb Hollow Road, Walland, was charged by Blount County Sheriff's deputies with felony evading arrest after the chase that started at 1:28 p.m. Tuesday on East Lamar Alexander Parkway near Heritage High School.
Deputies reportedly clocked Willis going 112 miles per hour and chased him to Rocky Branch Road and finally onto Nebo Road, Walland, where he hit a tree head-on.
Willis and his passenger fled and were caught a short time later, according to a Blount County Sheriff's Office report. He was taken by Rural/Metro Ambulance Service to Blount Memorial Hospital for treatment of facial and arm injuries.
After being treated and released, Willis is free on a $5,000 bond pending a 1:30 p.m. Monday hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court.
