Blount County Hazardous Waste Collection Day scheduled Saturday

The annual Blount County household hazardous waste collection will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at William Blount High School.
Residents are asked to bring their wastes to the entrance gate on County Farm Road.
Keep Blount Beautiful hosts the collection drive, with costs for collection paid by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC).
Acceptable items include automotive and marine products, home maintenance improvement products, lawn and garden products, electronics and other things like batteries, pool chemicals and drugs.
Not acceptable items include¬ infectious wastes, ammunition and explosives, smoke detectors, empty containers, paint cans, automotive gas tanks, laboratory chemicals
and cooking oil. No wastes from businesses, schools, hospitals or other institutions will be accepted.
