Donations, applications for Shop with a Cop sought

Area children will soon have a chance to Shop with a Cop to buy Christmas presents for themselves and others.
At 6 a.m. Dec. 5, law enforcement personnel from Blount County, Maryville and Alcoa will go shopping at the Alcoa Wal-Mart with local youngsters who can use some help to enjoy a happier Christmas.
Applications are available at all Blount County, Alcoa and Maryville elementary schools as well as the Alcoa and Maryville Police Departments and the Blount County Justice Center. The deadline to return applications is 4:30 p.m. Nov. 25.
The Fraternal Order of Police Bud Allison Memorial Lodge No. 9 in Maryville is also seeking donations for the program, which has was started 18 years ago.
Tax deductible donations to the Shop With a Cop program can be mailed to the F.O.P. Lodge No. 9, P.O. Box 5256, Maryville, TN 37802. Or donors can also leave a check made out to Shop With a Cop at the Blount County Sheriff's Office.
