A 24-year-old Maryville woman was arrested Sunday after her boyfriend claimed she pointed a gun at him, making him fear for his life.

The 35-year-old complainant told deputies that he and his girlfriend had an argument, which prompted him to leave a residence on Alfred McCammon Road, according to a Blount County Sheriff's Office report.

When the complainant returned, his girlfriend pulled a five-shot, .22-caliber handgun from her bra, pointed it at him and pulled the trigger, according to the sheriff's office report. The man said he fled and feared for his life.

The woman told 9-1-1 dispatchers she would have shot her boyfriend if she had ammunition, the report said.

"Defendant conflicted her statement to then say victim was choking her and she pulled the gun from her bra to make him stop," according to the report.

The woman denied pointing the weapon at the complainant or pulling the trigger. The man said he did not want to press charges and just wanted to get his possessions and leave.

The woman told officers that her brother had taken the handgun, and while in route to the jail, deputies recovered the weapon.

According to the sheriff's office report, the gun "had four empty cylinders and one (chamber) loaded with live ammunition with a primer dent in it, where the hammer had clearly struck the round and it had failed to fire the round."

The woman was charged with aggravated assault and released from jail on a $50,000 bond.

The woman is scheduled appear at 9 a.m. Nov. 12 in Sessions Court.
