An Alcoa Electric Department in-lieu-of-tax payment of $1,148,497 to Alcoa and Blount County governments was approved Tuesday by Alcoa City Commission.
Of that total, the city of Alcoa will receive $890,086 and Blount County $258,412.
An annual contract with U.S. Wildlife Service for trapping and relocating ducks from Alcoa and Maryville parks was approved at a cost of $5,000. The Wildlife Service is on call for when the city needs the service, said Alcoa City Manager Mark Johnson.
The commission approved on first reading the annexation and zoning as Residential District A the Jolyn F. Davenport property at 1043 Topside Road. A public hearing on the request was set for Dec. 8.
Several rezoning ordinances passed on first reading. Johnson said this is part of the city effort to clean up the land use plan to reflect what uses are in effect at this time.
The properties would be rezoned from Residence, Limited Restriction and General Business to Residential and Open Space.
The properties are bounded by Aberdeen, Kirkwell and Edenbridge drives and Breckland Lane in St. Ives Subdivision; by Lincoln Road and Aluminum Avenue; by Harrison, Garfield and Hayes streets; and by West Hunt and Ambrose roads and Tyson Boulevard.
Second and final approval was given the zoning of the Goins property off Alcoa Highway near Hillside Drive as General Business District E.
