A 3-year-old child was in intensive care Wednesday afternoon after a morning car accident, which also left a Louisville man dead and a Knoxville man in critical condition.
Troy Adkins, Kenzie Drive, Louisville, was "killed instantly," in the accident, which involved three cars, Alcoa Sgt. Hank Morris said.
The accident occurred at about 8:48 a.m., when a 2002 Dodge Ram truck, driven by Knoxville resident Terry Spencer, 55, crossed the center line and struck Adkins' 1994 Honda Accord.
Rural/Metro Ambulance Service transported Spencer to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he was in critical condition Wednesday afternoon, hospital officials said.
The 3-year-old, whose name was not released, was also taken to UT's Medical Center and was in the Intensive Care Unit, Morris said.
The driver of another vehicle, a 1999 Toyota Avalon, swerved before the accident to avoid a collision and was not injured.
