Foothills Land Conservancy reaches goal with Three Sisters easement

The Foothills Land Conservancy topped its goal of preserving 25,000 acres by its 25th anniversary in late December with the last-minute signing of a conservation easement for 1,898 acres of the Three Sisters property on Chilhowee Mountain.
Samuel E. Beall III, the son of Ruby Tuesday's founder Sandy Beall, signed a conservation easement agreement on behalf of Three Sisters Two Associates LLC on Dec. 22, according to the Blount Count Register of Deeds Office. The signing had not been made public but was disclosed during a search of public records.
Foothills Land Conservancy partnered with the North American Land Trust on the easement, said FLC Executive Director Bill Clabough.
"It's a real gift to Blount County," he said. "It's basically the north face of the Chilhowees. When you're driving down U.S. 321, it's the part of the Chilhowees you're looking at. To think that it will never be developed is a great gift from that group."
