Dear Editor:
Food Connection volunteer appreciation potluck is Friday, Nov. 13.
Because of the generosity of the community and the hundreds of volunteers, the Community Food Connection has not been forced to close for lack of food or downsize the donation bags. This is unlike the problems in San Francisco, Atlanta, Chicago and many smaller towns.
If you are a Community Food Connection Volunteer, please join us from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at First United Methodist Church, 804 Montvale Station Road, (Across from Maryville Middle School). Come by for an hour or more and meet your fellow Community Food Connection volunteers.
Wal-Mart, Merita Bread, and others are helping to underwrite the expense of fried and baked chicken, rolls, drinks, etc. We ask you to bring a vegetable, salad or dessert. Please RSVP to Larry Ladd, 984-6688, so we have an idea of the amount of chicken needed.
"It's Time" to say thank you to volunteers who work at the store, hand out flyers at local grocery stores, postal drive supporters, numerous civic clubs and over 20 churches in Blount County, The Daily Times, Blount Today, and the Blount members of the Knoxville Area Association of Realtors. Also, the many other local businesses that have given their time, scouts, high school and elementary students ... especially the Maryville High School National Honor Society sponsored by Dr. Penney Ferguson. Trying not to forget anyone, thanks to Blount Memorial Hospital and Trick or Cans workers.
Finally, thank you to all the monetary donors and the many, many other individuals who help Community Food Connection.
If you would like to learn more about Community Food Connection or be a volunteer, please join us on Friday, Nov. 13.
Please RSVP to Larry Ladd, 984-6688.
