Transforming your Thanksgiving décor into Christmas can be easy and stress free with a little "tweaking" in between seasons. At Accent on Home, we call this Harvesting the Holidays! By concentrating on the rich colors of the fall season -- deep red, burgundy, copper and gold -- you can enjoy the beauty of Thanksgiving and still offer a strong Christmas presence.

For example, your mailbox is a great place to begin holiday decorating. Start after Halloween by draping garland filled with pinecones over your mailbox. Move your leftover pumpkins and gourds to the base of the box and you've gone from Halloween to Thanksgiving. Jazz it up after Thanksgiving with some berries or ornaments. Wrap it up with outdoor festive ribbon, pitch the gourds, and your transformation to Christmas is complete.

Holiday decorating can be easy on the pocketbook, too. Pinecones and acorns will add visual texture to a basic evergreen wreath. Add a pop of color with apples or berries. Hang this on your door in November and after Thanksgiving simply enhance with a beautiful Christmas bow.

Making your decorating tradition stress free is possible by starting early and gradually working into Christmas.
