Four Rockford residents have been charged with promoting the manufacture of methamphetamine, following an investigation by the 5th Judicial Drug Task Force, Sheriff James L. Berrong said today.
Those charged are:
- Amie Cassandra Lee, 32, Old Tuckaleechee Road, Rockford;
- Joseph Scott Clouse, 25, Milliton Circle, Rockford;
- Tommy Arthur King, 40, Old Tuckaleechee Road, Rockford;
- and Fleisha Eskivonne Burchfield, 23, Milton Circle, Rockford, also charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (Oxycodone).
Investigators with the 5th Judicial Drug Task Force were alerted of persons shopping for pseudoephedrine — which is used to make meth — at a local retail store.
Investigators responded to the scene, and made contact with the four suspects.
Further investigation revealed that they were shopping for the same items at multiple locations, which is indicative of people trying to accumulate larger amounts of pseudoephedrine without being detected and restricted on their purchases.
